Surprise Proposal at Arrington Vineyards

Coordinating surprise proposals and celebrating engagements is easy to do at Arrington Vineyards. The location is open, airy and scenic, making it a romantic and fun place to pop the question. The wine and cheese plates don’t hurt either.

Because this was a surprise engagement, the couple’s family and friends were hiding out to celebrate after he popped the question. I worked with a friend of the groom to prepare for the special moment. Communicating via email I was able to pull an arial view of Arrington via Google, marking where I recommend he propose and where the family hide out.

Posing as a customer, I laid out a blanket and relaxed on the grass in front of the vineyards. When I spotted the future bride and groom, I slyly moved closer to prepare for the “I do” moment.

Using a telephoto lens, I was able to capture the intimate moment without invading the couple’s privacy. Shooting at 200 MM, I’m able to share in the their space without being in their space.

Once she said “yes” and they were able to collect themselves, I introduced myself. Brides are always so surprised and happy to hear that their groom planned ahead. Knowing that “the moment” is captured forever is incredibly special.

After sharing in their joy, I normally suggest a “mini session” with the couple. In this particular case, I walked with the couple throughout the grounds of the vineyard.

It was such a joy to work with the groom to pull off such a major surprise. It never gets old seeing genuine, intimate moments that are so special to couples.
